Man and a Van Croydon Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Man and a Van Croydon in recognition of our responsibility to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in all aspects of our operations and supply chains. We are committed to conducting our business ethically, transparently, and with respect for human rights, and we expect the same high standards from everyone we work with.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Man and a Van Croydon has a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, servitude, human trafficking, and child labour. We do not and will not engage with any organisation or individual that is knowingly involved in such practices. Any allegation or evidence of non-compliance will be treated with the utmost seriousness and may result in immediate termination of contracts or working relationships.
Our management team is responsible for ensuring that this commitment is embedded within our culture and daily operations. All staff are made aware that any form of exploitation is strictly prohibited and entirely inconsistent with our values as a business serving the local community and beyond.
Our Operations and Supply Chains
Man and a Van Croydon provides transport, moving, and related services. Our supply chains include providers of vehicles, fuel, equipment, uniforms, and occasional subcontracted labour for large or specialist moves. We recognise that risks can exist at any level of a supply chain, including indirect suppliers, and we are committed to identifying, assessing, and managing those risks in a responsible and proportionate way.
We seek to work only with reputable suppliers and subcontractors who share our commitment to ethical practices and compliance with all relevant labour and human rights laws.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all suppliers and subcontractors to uphold the following minimum standards:
Compliance with all applicable labour laws and regulations, including minimum wage, working hours, and health and safety requirements. No use of forced, bonded, or involuntary labour. No employment of workers under the legal minimum working age. Respect for workers’ freedom of movement and freedom to terminate their employment in accordance with legal and contractual rules.
To support these expectations, Man and a Van Croydon undertakes periodic reviews and audits of key suppliers, focusing on those where the risk of labour exploitation may be higher due to the nature of the work or the geographic location of operations. These reviews may include requesting written confirmations of compliance, reviewing relevant policies, and, where appropriate, conducting site visits or interviews.
Where concerns are identified, we will work with suppliers on corrective action plans and set clear timeframes for improvement. If adequate remediation is not achieved, we reserve the right to end the business relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage all employees, workers in our supply chain, and any third parties to raise concerns about potential modern slavery or unethical labour practices connected to our business. Concerns may relate to our own operations or to any supplier or subcontractor providing goods or services to Man and a Van Croydon.
Reports can be made in writing or verbally to a manager or senior member of staff. All concerns raised in good faith will be taken seriously, investigated promptly, and handled sensitively. We are committed to protecting anyone who raises a concern from retaliation, victimisation, or adverse treatment for doing so.
Where appropriate, we will involve relevant authorities and cooperate fully with any external investigation into suspected modern slavery or human trafficking.
Training and Awareness
We recognise that effective prevention of modern slavery requires awareness and vigilance. Man and a Van Croydon provides information and guidance to relevant staff, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment, and management of subcontractors, to help them identify warning signs of exploitation and understand how to respond.
We also encourage open discussion about ethical sourcing, fair treatment of workers, and responsible business practices as part of our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement.
Monitoring and Annual Review
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed on an annual basis by the management of Man and a Van Croydon, or more frequently if required by changes in legislation, our operations, or identified risks. The review considers the effectiveness of our actions, feedback from staff and stakeholders, and any incidents or concerns raised during the year.
Following each review, we will update our approach as needed, refine our supplier checks, strengthen reporting channels where necessary, and enhance training or guidance for staff. Our aim is to continuously improve our ability to prevent, identify, and address modern slavery risks within our business and supply chains.
This statement reflects the position and commitments of Man and a Van Croydon for the current financial year.
